Follow-up training

Reflection and reconnection in Kasulu

In June 2024, a group of CSO leaders came together once more in Kasulu, Tanzania, for a two-day follow-up training. Before the pandemic, they had already completed the intensive five-day leadership programma. This new session, again organised by the Libre Foundation in collaboration with local partner Prosper Kwigize, was dedicated to looking back, reflecting and reconnecting.

The approach

Building on previous steps

The focus was on the practical experience the participants had gained since their initial programme. How had they applied the tools and mindsets from the earlier training within their organisations and in their personal lives? Their answers revealed a mix of challenges and remarkable progress. Over the course of the two training days, we returned to the core elements of leadership:

Communication
Collaboration
Decision-making
Personal growth

Stories of growth
What stood out most were the personal stories. Two participants shared openly how earning their certificate had directly contributed to their professional development. For them, the training had been more than theory — it had become a springboard that opened new doors.

The value of follow-ups
For me, the strength of this follow-up lay in the combination of reflection and encouragement. It once again highlighted that leadership is not a fixed trait, but a skill that can be developed. A follow-up session offers a moment to pause, celebrate growth, and recognise the lasting impact of community-centred leadership. Looking back, participants could see how far they had come. Looking ahead, they felt renewed motivation to continue applying and sharing what they had learned.
