In June 2024, I had the privilege of facilitating a five-day leadership training in Kigoma, Tanzania. Once again, a motivated group of CSO leaders from the region came together for this program, developed by the Libre Foundation in close collaboration with project coordinator Daphne Meijer-Willems and local colleague Prosper Kwigize. The goal: strengthening the skills needed to lead with clarity and impact.
Exploring core themes
Throughout the week, key leadership themes took center stage. How do you make strategic decisions that truly have impact? How do you communicate persuasively and in a way that builds connection? How do you foster fruitful collaboration while staying true to your personal leadership?
The sessions created space for reflection, peer learning, and practical application, ensuring that insights were directly tied to participants’ everyday realities. That is precisely what made the learnings both tangible and sustainable.
Certificates and commitment
All fifteen participants successfully completed the training and proudly received their certificates. But more importantly, they concluded with a shared intention: a commitment to deepen their collaboration. Their pledge – to develop joint projects, share resources, and continue strengthening their civil society network – resonated far more powerfully than any document could.
